Lay all tools and Z2Autosport parts on a clean flat surface, such as a cardboard box. With everything ready, let's begin!
1. We will start on the passenger side of the vehicle. Jack up the car to allow for more work space. (remove wheel if necessary... we didn't)
2. Next, remove the moulding. You'll have to remove the fender trim. You want to expose the area behind the moulding. (you can remove the fender trim compltely or partially, just make sure you have enough room to work with) There are 3 screws holding in the mud guard and several plastic clips holding the fender trim in place. Remove these.
3. With the fender trim off, there will be an opening behind the moulding. (Fig.1)
4. Reach into opening. There are 2 plastic clips holding the moulding in place. Push these straight out. Use extreme force if necessary.:) The moulding will pop out. Clean area behind moulding with cloth and rubbing alcohol.
5. Next locate your front turn signal bulb. Should be easy since your fender trim is off. There will be a white clip attached to the bulb holder. This should be located at the bottom left side of your engine bay (if standing in front of the car). (Fig.2) We'll be splicing into this white clip but 1st disconnect it, we'll need to run the side marker wires into the clip for testing.
6. Next is to test the side marker before running the wires. Take a wire cutter or knife/scissor and snip a bit off to expose enough of the wire. 1 cm should do. Run red wire from side marker to the white clip's red wire and the run black wire from side marker to the white clip's green wire. See Fig. 5 for example. Turn your hazard lights on and the side marker should flash.
7. Before we can wire everything up securely we must run the wiring from the sidemarkers to the white clip. Take the side marker and thread the wiring through the front hole in the empty moulding space. (Fig. 3) DO NOT attach marker just yet, leave it hanging for now. Run wires along inside of fender well and out the hole in the engine bay. The white clip for your turn signals should be in this same spot.
8. Now to wire up the side markers. Red wire from side marker will splice into red wire on white clip. Black wire from side marker will splice into green wire on white clip. You can splice using soldering tools, or hard wire them by hand (not recommended). Luckily Z2Autosport supplies specialized splicing clips with the side markers to make the job easier. (Fig. 4)
9. 4 splicing clips are supplied. You will use 2 for each side marker. Just run appropriate pairs of wires into one splicing clip (outlined in step 8 above), and snap it shut. Use electrical tape to secure them. The little blade in the splicing clip will cut and connect the 2 wires simultaneously. Pretty simple.
10. With everything wired up and ready to go, it's time to test them. Turn on your hazard lights. Your sidemarkers should flash in sequence with your front and rear turn signals.
11. If everything works, clean up your wiring if necessary, put your fender trim back on, remove double sided tape along back of side marker and apply gently to the moulding space. Lower the jack.
12. Repeat steps above for other side of the vehicle (driver side). Note: where the turn signal bulb holder is located, there is not much room to work with. You will have to wire everything up on the inside of the fender well. Be sure to secure your wiring and clips.
That's it! You're finished. (Fig.6)
Behaviour: Side markers should flash whenever your turn signals flash, and should be on constant if you're driving lights are on.
